Question 7 of 10
Can only part of it be sold?
Yes, and it is worth considering before a full sale. A minority or majority share can be sold, a single brand or webshop can be separated and sold on its own, or a manager can be appointed so that the owner keeps ownership without the daily work.
Selling a share brings a partner rather than an exit, which is a different relationship and needs a shareholders' agreement that anticipates disagreement.
Carving out one brand works well where the parts genuinely operate separately. Where they share stock, suppliers and a warehouse, the separation costs more than it looks.
